Max L. Nisleit, age 96, was born on September 2, 1929, in Kiel, Wisconsin, to the late Della Anderson and Max Nisleit, Sr. He passed away at home on January 12, 2026.
Max attended Central High School in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country as a Korean War veteran from 1951 to 1953.
On October 9, 1954, Max married Dona May Lesperance in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. They shared many years together until Dona’s passing in 2014.
Max was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dona; his parents; his sister, Betty; his brother, Bob; his son, David; and David’s wife, Doris.
He is survived by his brothers, Rolly Nisleit, Jim Scriven, and John Scriven.
He is further survived by his children: Jeff (Vickie) Nisleit, Linda (Steve) Kovach, Steve (Donna) Nisleit, and Rich (Jan) Nisleit.
Max was a proud grandfather to Amy Joe Gracyalny, Craig (Melinda) Nisleit, Ashley Kovach, Taylor (Rocky) Breshears, Melissa (Mitchell) Nothem, Tina (Brett) Gronquist, Tony (Colleen) Groh, and Shawn Stahler. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Alora Gracyalny, Simon Nisleit, Xavier Nisleit, Phenix Kovach, Keyari Whitehurst, Otto Gronquist, Freya Gronquist, Ethan Groh, Addison Groh, Seth Stahler, and Kasey Stahler.
Max worked as a machinist at GE Medical Systems in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for 34 years before retiring to the Crivitz area. He enjoyed spending time at the cottage, hunting, and walking in the woods. He loved the challenge of fixing things, especially small engines. Though a very private man, Max had a special gift for music, and his face lit up whenever he was asked to bring out his accordion to entertain family and friends.
A private graveside burial service will be held for the immediate family.
