Eldona L. Thomas, 82, of Marinette passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at home. She was born on January 22, 1944, to the late Eldon and Lenore Melvin in Wausau. She graduated from Wausau High School in 1962. On October 22, 1966, Eldona married Michael Thomas at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wausau; he preceded her in death on February 3, 2025. Together they moved to Marinette in 1967 for his work. She enjoyed travel, getting to the 48 continental states with her husband, Mike, camping, reading, shopping, going to the casino, and a good beer or whiskey Old Fashioned. She was an avid Brewer and Packer fan. Eldona always had a smile on her face and never seemed to be in a bad mood. She was a loving homemaker who enjoyed caring for her daughters and time spent with her grandchildren. She was especially proud of being able to watch her grandchildren in their younger years.
Eldona is survived by her daughters, Michelle Benson of Marinette and Kim (Jeff) Larsen of Athelstane; grandchildren, Dylan and Kaylee Larsen; brother and sister in law, Bob and Karin Thomas of Janesville; special cousin, Judy Sorlie of Wausau; and numerous other nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.
A Graveside Service will be announced at a later date to be held at Restlawn Cemetery in Wausau. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family.
The family would like to thank their mom's caregiver and friend, Barb for all of the support and compassionate care given.
