Laura Jean Kresl, 54, of Sarasota, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Laura was born on February 21, 1972, in Marinette, the daughter of Miles Kresl Jr. and Joan Kresl.
She was a spirited and independent woman who lived life in her own unique way. Known for her free soul, strong will and caring heart, she brought energy and personality wherever she went. Throughout her life she explored many paths, including owning and operating her own businesses, something she took great pride in.
Laura is survived by two children, Dawson (Katie) Curtis and Carson (Linda) Curtis, and grandchildren, Rowan and Eve Curtis. Also, a very special friend Justin Ruffini, and two special dogs, Lucy and Nina.
She is also survived by her mother, Joan Kresl and her father Miles Kresl and Stepmother Renee Kresl. Brothers, David Kresl, Adam (Ann) Kresl, nephew, Thomas Kresl and great nephew Cooper. Uncle Jim (Sharon) Kresl. Stepsisters Dawn (Kevin) Rolling and Dana Ostrenga (Marcelo DaSilva). Stepbrothers, Doug (Julie) Ostrenga and Danny (Jennifer) Ostrenga.
At Laura’s request no public service will be held. The family asks that friends honor her memory with prayers for the peaceful repose of her soul and doing acts of kindness.
The family takes comfort in knowing that she is at peace in Gods loving care.
