It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Karen John, who departed this life peacefully on June 30, 2026, at Grace Edgewood in Altoona, WI. Born on November 17, 1945, in Menominee, MI, Karen was a beloved daughter of Alice and Andrew Penl. Karen grew up in the city of Marinette, WI where she developed a lifelong passion for crocheting, kitting, sewing and other various crafts that brought her immense joy and allowed her to express her creativity. She graduated with from Marinette High School. In her twenties, Karen met the love of her life, Peter John. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love and partnership, marked by mutual respect and loyalty. Together, they built a warm and welcoming home. Karen was a devoted wife and homemaker and later on, grandmother, roles she embraced with passion and dedication. Her home was always filled with the comforting aroma of home-cooked meals and the vibrant colors of her craft projects. Her knack for creating beautiful knitted or crocheted pieces was admired by all who knew her, and she often gifted friends and family with her lovingly made creations. Karen and Peter were blessed with a daughter, Andrea, who became the center of their world. Karen's nurturing spirit extended to her granddaughters, Jenna and Abby, who brought immense joy to her life. She cherished every moment spent in their company, offering them unconditional love and imparting her gentle wisdom. Karen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Peter John, and her dear sisters, Catherine (Fuzzy) and Carol. She leaves behind her daughter, Andrea, and her treasured granddaughters, Jenna and Abby, who will carry forward her legacy of love, resilience, and creativity. Though she has left this earthly realm, Karen's spirit is still with us in the many lives she touched. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, and her legacy will continue to inspire kindness, creativity, and love. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Karen's honor, as a testament to her generous spirit and commitment to helping others. Karen Penl John will be dearly missed, but her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in peace, reunited with her beloved husband and sisters, in eternal harmony.
