John Emil Jicha, age 80, of Crivitz, passed away unexpectedly at home on January 6, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of memories and a family who loved him deeply. John was born on June 2, 1945, in Iron Mountain to the late Emil Jr. and Margaret Jicha.

He graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1963 where he met and later married the love of his life Leah Pomeroy on October 3, 1964. John lived life as a truly dedicated and hardworking man. Working 40 years with the telephone company and continuing post-retirement with the Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home for another 15. John prioritized those around him, always lending a helping hand with a true and genuine smile on his face. John provided endless assistance to any and everyone in need, from shoveling snow to helping with garbage on trash day! A true selfless man that treated everyone around him with love and respect.

John found joy in the simple things in life. Spending early mornings hunting, afternoons on the golf course, or time at home with a handful of peanuts and a good book in hand. John was always found spending quality time with all those he loved. His faith was central to his life, he was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Crivitz, where he also expressed his faith as a CCD teacher, sang in the choir and handed out communion.

Above all, John was a loving husband, a proud father, and a cherished grandfather. He is survived by his beloved wife, Leah Jicha, his four children, John (Laura), Allan (Terri), Annmarie (Mike) Schwartz, and Kevin (Megan); his seven grandchildren, Andrew, Sarah, Lillian, Ryan, Marissa, Tyler, and Nathan, and his two step-grandchildren Emmett and Isaiah.

Family and friends will gather to celebrate John’s life at St. Mary’s Catholic Church on January 12, with visitation from 9:00–11:00 a.m., followed by a service at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Father David Schmidt.

John lived by the belief that “Every day is a good day— some days are just better than others.” His gentle spirit, unwavering love, and steady presence will be missed more than words can express, but his legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.
