It is Homecoming Week at Peshtigo High School, and it promises to be a fun-filled week for our students, families and staff.
Underneath all the fun games, dress-up days and the dance is an opportunity for our students to build a true sense of belonging within our school community. Sharing these moments together creates more than just laughter; it creates lasting memories.
Over the last couple of weeks, our students and staff participated in Safety Week, designed to provide training and practical exercises for fire safety, evacuations and other safety measures. All students learned how to respond in various scenarios and then had the opportunity to practice.
From an administrative standpoint, feedback from staff and students gives us valuable insight to continuously improve our procedures.
October is also the time when our teachers review where their students stand academically and set goals for the school year. This process includes analyzing school-wide and classroom assessments to gauge individual skill levels.
This annual practice allows our teachers to adapt their instruction directly to their current students’ strengths and needs.
A heartfelt thank-you goes out to the parents, staff and community members who participated in our first two strategic planning taskforce meetings. Your feedback has affirmed our district’s vision, “A Tradition of Excellence,” as we work to build upon our strengths and address key areas of growth.
Three main priorities have risen to the top: College, career and life ready; safe, healthy and supportive learning environments; and high-quality staff, leadership and organizational excellence.
Our action team’s next step is to outline the key outcomes for each of these areas.
Lastly, a reminder to our senior citizen friends: you are cordially invited to a breakfast on October 15 at 9 a.m. in the PELC. It will be a wonderful chance to catch up with friends and learn from our students. I hope to see you there!
