100 Women Giving Back Northwoods donates to DAR Boys & Girls Club

Posted

MENOMINEE, MICH. – The power of women coming together to make a difference continued to shine through the generosity of 100 Women Giving Back Northwoods, which recently donated $7,400 to the DAR Boys & Girls Club in Menominee, Mich.

The donation will support the club’s mission of building character, leadership, physical well-being and self-esteem in young people through social, educational and recreational programs.

“We are very fortunate to live in this great supportive community. This generous donation will be used to support our youth programs,” CEO of the DAR Boys & Girls Club Koreen Gardon.

Serving area youth since 1915, the DAR Boys & Girls Club provides a safe, supportive environment where children can learn, grow, build friendships and develop important life skills. With today’s youth facing challenges such as crime, drugs and delinquency, organizations like the DAR Boys & Girls Club play a vital role in helping young people build brighter futures.

Run entirely by volunteers, 100 Women Giving Back Northwoods is an informal group of women who share a passion for giving back to their communities. The group meets quarterly to learn about local nonprofit organizations and vote on a recipient for their collective donation.

Since its founding five years ago, the group has contributed more than $340,000 to local organizations, demonstrating how individual contributions can add up to make an extraordinary difference.

“Being a member of our 100 Women group has really opened my eyes to what a huge difference we can make in the community. Attending the meetings and learning about all the needs in our area that I didn’t know about before is eye opening,” Renee Oastler, one of the group’s first members, said.

“There are so many ways that we can impact and help our neighbors. I’m proud to be able to say that I’m a small part of a group that makes a huge impact,” she added.

Despite its name, membership in 100 Women Giving Back Northwoods is not limited to 100 women. The group welcomes additional members, creating even greater opportunities to support deserving organizations throughout the Northwoods.

The group’s next meeting will take place on Nov. 2 in Marinette, when members will once again come together to select another local nonprofit to receive their collective donation.

Women interested in making a difference in their communities are encouraged to learn more and consider joining. Every new member helps strengthen the group’s ability to give back.
