Victoria “Vicky” Florence (Lundh) Chaltry, 77, of Birch Creek was called into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus on Monday, October 14, 2024. She passed peacefully surrounded by her family at home after receiving an unexpected late-stage lung cancer diagnosis.

Born in South Milwaukee on September 26, 1947 to Paul and Laura “Amelia” (Wetzel) Lundh, she was their youngest, and only daughter, with 3 older brothers. Vicky loved family visits to Minnesota to visit her grandparents and play with cousins on the farm. At the age of 9, she began playing the flute, and went on to perform in marching bands, concert bands, and the Lake Band of South Milwaukee. Her marching band even performed at halftime of the Lombardi-era Packer games. She graduated from Oak Creek High School in 1965.

While working at Allen Bradley, she met her husband Adrian “Ady” Chaltry, and the couple were wed in Cudahy on August 12, 1972. Shortly after, she moved to Adrian’s hometown of Birch Creek where they raised their two daughters in the same house where he had grown up.

A patient, loving, and devoted mother, Vicky stayed home to raise the girls. When they entered school, Vicky returned to work as the Secretary for Faith Lutheran Church where she was a founding member of the congregation. She was next employed at Emerson Electric where she worked for 15 years and made lifelong friends. At the age of 61, she earned her BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with an emphasis in Education from UW-Marinette and UWGB, where she again made many lasting friendships.

She shared her flute playing talent locally, participating in the Community Concert Band, playing for church services, and performing as a wandering minstrel for the Renaissance Faires in Marinette. In recent years, she was thrilled at the fulfillment of a lifelong dream to study under world renown flutist, Sir James Galaway. She considered symphony orchestra her favorite sport.

Vicky was very talented at both crocheting and knitting, and always kept busy handmaking afghans, doilies, snowflakes, angels, ditty bags and so much more. Vicky generously shared her gifts with those near and dear to her. Throughout her life, she enjoyed traveling, and visited dozens of countries including Sweden, the birthplace of her father. She was an exceptional baker and always had a sweet treat on the table after every meal. Gardening was also one of her treasured hobbies, beautiful flowers were in abundance in her gardens and on her plant stand. Vicky also volunteered her time to our local community as a longtime member and past president of LWML and member of GFWC Women's Club of Menominee.

Ady and Vicky celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage until his passing on January 25, 2010. Thereafter, she became a snowbird, spending her winters in Florida near her brother and sister-in-law, but always returning to the U.P. for Mother’s Day to be celebrated by her daughters and granddaughter. Known for her sweet smile and kind heart, she welcomed all like family, and was affectionately called “mom” by many.

Vicky is survived by her daughter, Regina (Adam) Chaltry; granddaughter, Grace; daughter, Laura Chaltry; sister-in-law, Marsha Lundh; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and brothers Robert, William, and Peter.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 2nd at Faith Lutheran Church located at 4009 Irving Street in Marinette. All who knew and loved her are asked to wear her favorite color, red. Additionally, the family asks if you were blessed to receive a knit or crocheted gift from Vicky, to please bring it to the service. The visitation will be held from 10am until the noon service officiated by Rev. James Krueger, with lunch to follow. Burial will be in Birch Creek Cemetery at 4pm. Thielen Funeral Home is assisting the family. A memorial fund has been established by the family in Victoria’s name.
