Following a 7-4 overall finish and a fourth-place standing in the Northwoods Conference last season, the Crivitz Wolverines enter the upcoming high school football season aiming to turn close conference battles into a deeper postseason run.
Crivitz finished 4-3 in Northwoods play last year, featuring blowouts over opponents like Northland Pines (51-7), Manawa (42-0), and Clintonville (63-0), alongside razor-thin, one-possession losses to top-tier conference rivals Oconto Falls (20-16) and Coleman (12-7). After earning a 42-27 opening-round playoff victory over Reedsville, the Wolverines’ campaign ended in a 41-7 postseason loss to St. Joseph.
Head coach Matt Bernier believes the roster holds the necessary tools to make another push, provided key positional transitions come together early.
“I think we have the pieces that can do it,” Bernier said. “A lot of it depends on how well our offensive line gels and how quickly that gels, because we’ll have a lot of juniors stepping up to the plate. So we do have some pieces in place and some starters returning from last year, and we hope to build off what we did and continue to make the playoffs here and make a push in the playoffs.”
Bernier highlighted the program’s junior varsity development as a critical asset for building depth upfront.
