Veronica Gesell

Veronica was the youngest daughter of John and Mary Pucel. She grew up on the family farm in Crivitz, WI. While Visiting her sister in Milwaukee, she met Robert Gesell at a dance. They were married in 1948 and spent the next 68 years in Milwaukee raising their children and being close to their grandchildren. She was blessed to return to her beloved Crivitz for the last ten years of her life.

Veronica lived everyday of her life as an amazing selfless, giving person to all those she loved and cared tor. She lovingly cared for her husband of 67 years working side by side with him to raise seven children and assist with his woodworking passion, and especially at the end of his life, caring for him in their home with his Alzheimer's diagnosis. She welcomed children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren into her home whenever there was a need.

Veronica had many talents, she was an avid gardener, bookkeeper, interior designer and seamstress. Her six daughters never went without a new dress for any school occasion, but most of all she was the best cook and baker for her family. Veronica had a great devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and devoutly prayed the rosary daily instilling in her children and grandchildren the gift of their faith.

Veronica is survived by her six children Barbara (David) Gewalt, Jane (Joe) Palmisano, Rosemary Koller, John (Ana) Gesell, Elizabeth (Dale) Streubel, and Ann Marie (Henry) Slaby, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by other relatives and friends. Veronica was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert; two daughters Susan and Mary; grandson Adam Slaby; parents John and Mary Pucel; three brothers John, William, and Joseph; and four sisters Mary, Emma, Dorothy, and Stephanie.

Visitation will be held at OLD ST. MARY’S CHURCH (836 N Broadway Street, Milwaukee, WI 53202) on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 9:00am -10am with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 10am. Burial to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee.
