Posted

WAGNER – During the Wednesday, Aug. 14 Town of Wagner board meeting, the board discussed that all permits are complete for the Cottage Ln. project and bidding is open for the September meeting. The project will begin in the spring of 2025. The snowplow and grass-cutting contracts for the 2024-25 season are still up for bid.

To start the meeting, Margo thanked all poll workers, Rita Renikow, Ginny Polomis, Julie Brown, Linda Fronsee and Bonnie Rostad for their work with the 161 voters. In other correspondence, Scott Construction will begin work around Aug. 26, and Elly Rivard asked permission to metal detect on the Town of Wagner town hall property and replace any holes dug by her son. The members granted her permission.

There were no board updates, public comments, budget adjustments, transfers or animal control updates. The treasurer’s report yielded $70,251.22 as the checking balance and $583,369.21 in the money market. Public Works updated the board that road patching and recycling center are going well. Todd Hermes spoke on behalf of the fire department to report 145.5 hours of training, and Jamboree is complete with only one call to report.

Marinette County Judge Peggy Miller introduced herself to the board later in the meeting and spoke about the importance of the board investing in her for the next term she is running for in April.

WRISC Coordinator Lindsay Peterson provided information on invasive species control, including a workshop in September for the Wagner Sportsman Club and any land owners to attend. Contact Peterson at wildriverscwma@gmail.com for more information.

The next Town of Wagner board meeting will be on Sept. 11, at 6:30 p.m., and a Wagner Fire Department meeting will be on Aug. 28, at 7 p.m.
