LENA — Coming off an 11-1 campaign, a conference title in the Across the Bay 8-Man Conference, and a trip to the state semifinals, the Lena-STAA Titans enter a new era as they transition into the Northeast 8-Man Conference.

Despite significant roster turnover following heavy graduation losses, co-head coaches Ed Huberty and Dale Lange enter the program’s 23rd season as a co-op—and 13th in 8-man football—confident in the program’s foundation.

“Success usually breeds success, and we’ve had some good success the last couple years,” Lange said. “So we’ve been playing more games, we get more game experience. Obviously that helps us as we go down. Now, we did lose a lot of good players last year, but we got a lot of young guys. We’re going to be a younger team than we usually are, but we’ve got some nice talent.”

Last season, Lena-STAA finished 6-0 in conference play before advancing deep into the 32-team state playoff field, where their postseason run ended against Chippewa McDonell.
