Posted

The Suring volleyball team claimed the regional championship with a commanding victory over Elcho. The match concluded with scores of 25-1-,25-20, and 25-19.

From the first serve, it was clear that the Eagles were ready to fly. A standout player in this match was Senior Chloe Schroeder, whose powerful serves not only set the pace of the game but also put significant pressure on the Elcho defense. But it wasn’t just Schroeder who shone; the entire starting lineup demonstrated excellent chemistry and skill. The starting six comprised of; #2 Chloe Schroeder, #5 Gracie Christensen, #7 Karissa Hischke, #8 Alyia Cox, #9 Lexi Remic, and #10 Ellayna Skarban. Head Coach Tonia Kruschke says, “This group of girls works together as a one unit. No one is trying to out perform the other. I am not sure they even realize how much everyone on this team contributes to our success. They truly build each other up.”

Coach’s strategy heading into the game was straightforward yet effective: “Our plan was to play our game. Stay true to serving well and attacking the ball.” With this mantra in mind, the Eagles executed each play with purpose and confidence, making it evident that they were prepared for the challenge ahead.

Despite facing moments of adversity, the team demonstrated remarkable resilience. “We continue to push through even when we are down,” reminded Coach Kruschke, highlighting how the players leaned on one another for support during tougher stretches of the match. Their ability to rally together fueled their performance, turning pressure into motivation. Coach Krushkee says, “Volleyball is fun for them, and they support one another when mistakes are made.”

To start the game off in the first set, the Eagles showcased an impressive combination of aggressive serves and well-executed plays from key players that left Elcho struggling to find their footing. Suring dominated the set with a 25-10 score.

The second set saw a more competitive battle, with both teams trading points all throughout. The Eagles pulled ahead late in the set, showcasing their strong determination.

In the final set, Elcho kept the game close mounting a comeback effort, but Suring’s focus proved too much for them. They maintained their composure, securing a 25-19 victory.

With the regional championship secured, the mood in Suring is one of excitement and anticipation. The players have proven that they are not just a team; they are a family. They will carry the lessons learned from this match into the next, building on their strengths and refining their strategies as they prepare for the road ahead.
