Steven G. Lentz, 71, passed away October 15, 2024. He was born to the late Oscar and Patricia (Benton) Lentz on Feb. 15, 1953 in Milwaukee.
Steven graduated from Coleman High School with the Class of 1971 and enlisted in the Navy in 1972 and trained as an Electronics Technician. He served on the U.S.S. Enterprise Aircraft Carrier (CVAN-65) and the U.S.S. Knox (FF-1052) Fast Frigate. While on the U.S.S. Knox, deployed on WestPac, which included Vietnam Service during Operation Frequent Wind – Evacuation of the Republic of South Vietnam, and Operation Eagle Pull – Evacuation of Cambodia. Steven was honorably discharged in 1976.
Steven worked at Coleman Products doing various jobs ending at plant closure in 1990 as a Warehouse Supervisor. He also worked at Capital Interiors as a Materials Clerk, Marinette Marine in the Electrical Dept. and Friday (Chiquita) Canning in maintenance. Steven became disabled in 2010.
Steven is survived by nephews, Christopher (Melissa) Lentz and Patrick (Christen) Lentz; nieces, Tammy Exferd, Evelyn Lentz, Sherry Gray and many cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by brothers, Darrell, Oscar, Jr. (Butch), Curtis, a sister, Barbara and a niece, Dawn Wagner.
The family will greet relatives and friends Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the Rhodes-Charapata Funeral Home from 9 – 11 AM. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Kostreva officiating. Military Honors will be given by the Coleman American Legion. Steven will be placed to rest at First Baptist Cemetery, Pound.
