Stephen E. Kohn, of Marinette, passed away on Sunday, November 10, 2024. He was born in 1947, in Menominee to Robert and Helen Kohn.
Steve was a 1965 graduate of Marinette Catholic Central High School, a delegate to Bay State, and offered an appointment to West Point. He attended Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, and Northern Michigan University in Marquette. In 1969, during the Vietnam War, he enlisted in the US Navy, and was a graduate of the Department of Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. Steve spent his enlistment working for the intelligence community as a linguist and cryptologist.
Upon discharge from the Navy, Steve returned to Menominee and worked for Menominee Paper Company. He was a 1984 graduate of Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in management, and the UW Madison Management Series.
Steve married Sheryl Schewe in 1981, and enjoyed in his spare time sailing, camping, and working on his cars.
Steve is survived by his wife, Sheryl; children, Tara Kohn (Donald Ehlers), Eric (Shannon) Kohn, and Tanya (Chad) Albert; grandchildren, Kenley, Korbyn, Evelyn and Amelia; as well as his little buddy Reggie; a brother, Christopher (Martha) Kohn of Jackson, MI; and sister, Kathryn Kohn of Green Bay. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and other family members.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home from 1 until 2 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. with Fr. Jack Harper officiating. Burial will be in Menominee Riverside Cemetery.
