S.O.H2O praise passing of PFAS trust fund bills

Posted

MARINETTE – On Monday, April 6, Save Our Water (S.O.H2O) was invited by the Governor Ever’s office to attend his signing of PFAS trust fund bills AB130 and AB131.

Jeff Lamont and Doug Oitzinger represented S.O.H2O and were asked to stand next to Governor Evers as he signed the two bills, releasing over $130 million for PFAS remediation and assistance for impacted communities and individuals in Wisconsin.

The following day, Governor Evers traveled to Marinette and was escorted by S.O.H2O’s Directors Oitzinger and Trygve Rhude at Runnoe Park on the UW-Green Bay Marinette Campus to see firsthand where PFAS contamination flows into the Bay of Green Bay. The governor was given photographs of four consecutive years of PFAS foam being captured in “Ditch B” that runs through the campus.

S.O.H2O has been a leader locally and statewide educating the public on the dangers of PFAS in the environment and on public health. The organization partnered with Clean Wisconsin and was instrumental in bringing a bipartisan solution to the stalemate that had held the PFAS trust fund in limbo for three years.
