Roy G. Meier, Lena passed away on January 26, 2026, at home after a courageous battle of cancer with his family at his side. He was born on September 18, 1949, to Arnold Sr. and Phyllis (Schroder) Meier from Neenah, WI. Roy graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1968 and was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam Era. He proudly served in the Army and was stationed in Ulm, Germany working with Pershing Missiles. After his tour of duty Roy returned to the Kaukauna area and worked for Thilmany Paper.

He decided to try moving “up north” and was hired at Patz Sales in Pound, WI, where he worked for over 35 years. Roy continued his education at NWTC with a degree in Supervisory Management. While working at Patz Sales he met the “love of his life” Char (Charlene) Grosse and they got married on October 17, 1981, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Coleman, WI. After retirement Roy couldn’t just stay home so he went to work part-time for Lena Swamp Archery in Oconto Falls, WI where he did sales, service and just about anything else that needed to be done.

After marriage, they lived a year in the Mountain area, then moved to Lena. Roy was a member of the Oconto Falls American Legion Eich-Sankey Post #302 and a former member of the North Country Kickers Western dancers. He enjoyed fishing, camping, playing guitar, going to the cabin and spending time with his family and friends. Roy also was known for his amazing woodworking skills making projects for family, fund raisers and benefits. He was known for making his own musical instruments such as a banjo and multiple Mountain Dulcimers. Each project he would make had a story to tell as he would get wood from meaningful places and make it into keep sakes for family and friends. If you asked him about his wood working, he would say “I just make a lot of sawdust.”

He is survived by his wife of 44 years Char (Charlene), a son Nicholas of Pound, WI special extended family Kaila (Jeremy) Cota, James (Nikki) Herald, Eric Vorpahl, special grand-daughters Mackenzie Vorpahl and fiance Damian Dyer, Madysen, Makynna and Macy Herald who he loved dearly. He is also survived by three brothers, Arnold Meier Jr. (Denise Ohlm), Rhinelander, WI Allan Meier, Pickerel, WI Bruce (Deanna) Meier, Menasha, WI, brother and sisters-in-law Tom (Jean) Grosse, Sharon Grosse, Pound WI, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold Sr. and Phyllis Meier, infant sister Ruth, stepfather Elmer Manthey, in-laws Earl and Hilda Grosse, a dearly loved brother and sister-in-law Paul and Jacci Meier.

Visitation will be at the Rhodes Charapata Funeral Home in Lena on Sunday, February 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by funeral service with Pastor Bill Tisch officiating. Burial will be in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Coleman, WI.

The family extends heartfelt thank you to Green Bay Oncology Department, St. Mary’s Hospital, St. Vincent’s Hospital, Veterans Affair hospital in Milwaukee, Veterans Affair Clinic of Green Bay, Coleman Rescue Squad, Oconto County Sheriff’s Department and Unity Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, Roy’s wishes were to start an archery program for youth.
