The 2026 – 2027 school year will be upon us in just a few weeks. You can feel a sense of urgency around campus as final preparations get underway. Adding to the excitement this August — the middle/high school construction project will finally be completed!
To commemorate this milestone, the administration and school board will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony and open house on Aug. 31 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The building will be open for self-guided tours, with staff available throughout the evening to answer questions.
This is a truly unique facility, as the designers and architects from Performance Services Inc. incorporated community feedback to blend the history of Peshtigo Schools with a modern learning environment.
Also this year, the district invites students, parents and community members to participate in our strategic planning process. The school board and administration aim to facilitate an open dialogue to identify district priorities for the next five to eight years.
We firmly believe Peshtigo is a community-driven district guided by the needs and aspirations of our students, parents, and neighbors. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.
Over the past few months, we have also taken steps to enhance campus safety and security.
The Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center (PELC) now features a secure entrance designed for improved visitor screening and restricted direct access. A similar secure entryway will open at the middle/high school as part of the new facility project.
Additionally, updated training programs and increased drill frequency will ensure staff and students are better prepared should emergency situations arise.
During your next visit to campus, you will notice a few additional updates. A new parking lot has been added at the corner of Emery Avenue and Green Street. While it won’t resolve all our parking challenges, it will provide much-needed relief. The running track has also been fully resurfaced.
Finally, a special thank you to the City of Peshtigo for adding a sidewalk from Aubin Street to the PELC as part of the West Park Drive project. This addition provides a much safer route for students and families walking or biking to and from school.
Enjoy the rest of your summer, and I look forward to seeing you at our Open House on Aug. 31!
