Post 146 takes pair from Kingsford

MENOMINEE – Playing host to Kingsford for a twin bill on Tuesday, Jun. 18, Menominee’s Post 146 booked two wins, taking down the visitors 7-2 in the opener and then 11-1 in the finale.

Menominee took control of game one early on, scoring a run in the bottom of the first and then four in the second, highlighted by a two-RBI single from Blake Malke to bring in Gable Buck and Connor Schroeder. Chase Monette had an RBI-single in the fourth frame to bring in Schroeder, who smashed a triple in the fifth to bring in Buck and cap the scoring.

Schroeder went 4 ⅓ innings for Menominee and struck out 10 to get the win and Tyler Bouty, seeing his first action on the mound this season, got two strikeouts in relief.

Post 146 broke game two open with a five-run third inning to put Menominee out front 6-1 and the game out of reach. In the pivotal inning Schroeder brought Buck and Robert Finger home with a two-run double before being brought in himself thanks to a single from Ethan Short.

The Red Wave plated three more in the fourth, highlighted by RBI singles from Buck and Short.

MENOMINEE – Post 146 put together another solid doubleheader effort at home on Saturday, Jun. 22 against Marquette, scoring all sorts of runs in a pair of wins, 10-3 to begin the day and then 11-3 in the second game. 

In a game one that saw the Red Wave leave just a pair of baserunners stranded, the home team got on the board early and often, scoring a pair in the first inning and then three in the third, while Marquette remained scoreless until it posted a one-run fourth.

Connor Schroeder led the Menominee offense with a two-out triple in the fourth inning to score a pair of runs. 

The Red Wave put game two out of reach early, sending 13 batters to the plate in the first frame in the process of bringing in nine runs on seven hits. In the blowout inning, Schroeder brought in three RBIs while Torin Davis, Gable Buck, Robert Finger, Blake Malke and Aiden Sevon each brought in a run.
