PESHTIGO – More than 150 children and family members gathered at the Lions Family Recreation Pond on June 7 for the third annual Cops & Bobbers Fishing Derby, an event that brought together local law enforcement, community organizations and families for a day of outdoor fun, fishing and fellowship.
A highlight of the event was the generous support provided by the Peshtigo Lions Club, whose members donated and served hot dogs, chips and bottled water to participants throughout the day. Their contribution helped ensure that every child and family attending the derby could enjoy a meal while participating in the festivities.
The annual event — organized by the Marinette Police Department in partnership with the Peshtigo Police Department — gives young anglers the opportunity to fish alongside law enforcement officers, helping build positive relationships between officers and the communities they serve.
Peshtigo Lions Club members arrived early to prepare and serve food, demonstrating the organization’s longstanding commitment to community service. Their involvement highlighted the important role service organizations play in strengthening local communities through volunteerism and collaboration.
The Cops & Bobbers Fishing Derby featured free fishing opportunities for youth, and the chance for children to interact with local law enforcement officers in a fun and relaxed environment. By combining outdoor recreation with community engagement, the event continues to grow as a valued tradition in the Marinette and Peshtigo area.
The Peshtigo Lions Club extends its thanks to the Marinette Police Department, Peshtigo Police Department, volunteers, sponsors and all who participated in making the event a success. Through partnerships such as these, local organizations continue to demonstrate the power of service, collaboration and community spirit.
