Peshtigo Lions Club build new picnic table for recreation area

PESHTIGO – A simple project built with teamwork and the spirit of service is providing a new place for community members to gather at the Peshtigo Lions Recreation Area.

Three members of the Peshtigo Lions Club recently worked together to construct a new picnic table, which has been placed beneath the gazebo at the recreation area.

The new table adds another comfortable gathering space for families, visitors and community groups who use the facility. Located under the canopy, the table provides a convenient spot for people to sit, share a meal and enjoy time together while taking advantage of the recreation area.

For the three Lions members who built the table, the project was about more than construction. It was another opportunity to put the Lions motto, “We Serve,” into action.

Lions service can take many forms, and working together as a team enables members to accomplish more for the people they serve.

The picnic table project is a good example of how community service does not always have to be a large undertaking. Sometimes, meeting a local need means identifying something that will make a community facility more useful and then finding a few willing volunteers to make it happen.

The Peshtigo Lions Club has long been part of the community’s tradition of volunteer service, and projects such as this one demonstrate how Lions members continue to contribute their time, skills and energy to improve places that are enjoyed by others.

The new picnic table now stands ready to welcome visitors beneath the gazebo at the Peshtigo Lions Recreation Area — a lasting reminder that when volunteers work together, even a straightforward project can make a meaningful difference.
