PESHTIGO – Learn the interesting history of the deadliest fire in U.S. History. On Oct. 8, 1871 a firestorm roared through Peshtigo and surrounding areas. It killed an estimated 1,500-2,000 people and destroyed the entire community. Members of the Peshtigo Historical Society will present on this infamous time in local history on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, located at 331 Pine St., Peshtigo.
No admission fee will be charged, but a food donation for the local food pantry would be greatly appreciated. Refreshments will be provided following the presentation.
RSVP by calling the church at (715) 582-3595 and leave a message. This is to gather an approximate number of people planning to attend.
