Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce unveils summer event lineup

Posted

PESHTIGO – Following a busy year celebrating their 75th anniversary, the Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce is keeping their calendar packed.

The chamber gathered for their annual meeting on Tuesday, April 14. During the meeting, the three-year directors sworn in included Rhonda McClain, Meg Mayse, Elaine Sotka and Julie Bloch. The two-year directors sworn in included Mike Fifarek and Aric Chaltry.

A majority of the annual meeting surrounded the year in review presentation, where directors discussed the highlights and achievements over the past year.

This included the beginning of the Peshtigo Farmers Market.

The Peshtigo Farmers Market was held a total of five times and saw attendance ranging from 350 to 450 community members as well as 36 unique vendors between all the markets. The organizers thanked Lofaro’s Fresh Market and Lee Mylener for allowing the use of the vacant lot downtown on French Street.

Following this success, the Peshtigo Farmers Market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every other Sunday beginning July 12.

In September, the chamber marked 25 years of selling booyah following the Peshtigo Historical Day parade.

Booyah is one of the primary fundraisers of the year for the chamber, and planning, cooking, setting up, selling and cleaning takes dedicated volunteers. The chamber is currently accepting volunteers for the booyah booth during the historical day festivities on Saturday, Sept. 26.

In Nov. 2025, the chamber honored the passing of director and longtime member Marquita Joann (Uecker) Limberg.

“Marquita’s effervescent spirit and dedication to education touched many lives throughout her 84 years,” the chamber shared.

In memory of Limberg, the organization donated a $100 gift card to the Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center library to purchase books. A memorial sticker was placed in each book.

Additionally, the chamber emphasized their continued commitment to investing in education. Over the past year, the chamber distributed three $750 scholarships to high school seniors, supported the Senior Jump Start program and made over 15 donations to area organizations, including the M&M Children’s Museum and the local school district.

In other financial news, the income for the 2025 - 2026 fiscal year was $1,157 lower than initially budgeted, but significantly reduced expenses resulted in an overall surplus of $5,745.62. Looking forward, the newly approved 2026 - 2027 budget projects $39,380 in income against $36,567 in general monthly and annual expenses, aiming for a projected surplus of $2,813.

Next up for the chamber are spring cleaning projects at the visitor center, including landscaping, interior painting and re-working of the display materials inside.

Other ongoing projects include continuing to grow the chamber’s digital footprint — having achieved over 1.4 million views on their social media pages — and mailing out redesigned membership decals to paid members.

The Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce will host their third annual Food Truck Rally on Wednesday, June 3, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Badger Park with live music, eight food trucks and local organizations selling beverages and baked goods. The Peshtigo Area Wide Rummage Sale is scheduled for July 10 and July 11.

The chamber will meet next at noon on May 12 in the Peshtigo City Hall.
