PESHTIGO – The Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce gathered at city hall to finalize end-of-year business and establish a framework for the upcoming 2026 season.
The chamber took time to honor the memory of Marquita Limberg, a longtime director who passed away in November. Following a memorial donation already made to the Emergency Rescue Squad, the board discussed ways to create a tribute at the Peshtigo Elementary Learning Center.
Mayse said she will look into purchasing books for the school library in Limberg’s name. The board unanimously approved a motion to spend up to $100 on the book donation, which will be presented to the school alongside Limberg’s family.
Afterwards, several community updates and upcoming events were brought forward during the liaison reports.
Mayor Katie Berman is currently assembling the 2026 calendar of events and asked for community partners to contact her to add items to it. Residents can expect to see the calendar posted on the city website and included within April water bills.
The Peshtigo Lions Club will be cooking at the SkillsUSA robotics competition in February. Additionally, the club recently completed 115 vision screenings at the elementary school.
The Peshtigo Woman’s Club has already set dates and booked most of the musical acts for the Bands at Badger summer series. The club also donated $500 from club funds and a volunteer collection to the Peshtigo Rawhide Youth Home for the purchase of Christmas presidents.
The treasurer’s report was approved and the annual hosting fee of $420 was paid to Packerland Website.
Updates were then given about the state of the chamber of commerce. This fall, the chamber celebrated a successful Scarecrow Contest with the Rennes Group taking the trophy.
Currently, the organization is seeking additional leadership. Following the resignation of Cassie Emmer as well as the past departure of O’Neill and the passing of Limberg, president Karen Pluff noted that the board is currently short three directors and is seeking interested candidates from the community.
Looking ahead to the spring, the Awards and Recognition Banquet will be held on April 30, 2026, at Little River Country Club in Marinette. The venue agreed to waive the banquet fee, and a committee will begin formal planning after the holiday season.
The Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce will hold their next meeting on Jan. 13, 2026.
