After 96 years of offering a listening ear and a judgement-free heart to everyone she met, Neva Marie Smith passed away on July 19, 2026. She was born on May 6, 1930 to the late John and Nellie (Johnvin) Marsh. Neva leaves behind a legacy of family and friends who will forever miss the comfort of her presence.
Neva's life was deeply rooted in her love for God, every Sunday making sure the church had the most beautiful flowers she could find. Her dedication to the church was steadfast; she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and Junior Church, pouring her heart into nurturing the faith of generations of children. She continued attending church faithfully until her very final days, and even in her time at the nursing home she'd often fill the air with the comforting sweet sound of singing her favorite hymns.
Neva was a familiar and beloved sight in Mountain, she embraced each day with love and joy, taking her morning walks and cheerfully waving to everyone passing by on HWY 32. Whether she was tending to her cherished garden, curating her treasured coin and stamp collection, or making baby blankets she approached life with a quiet wonder that made the world a brighter place.
Neva is survived by her children; Wilmer (Bonnie) and Belva Smith, 5 grandchildren; Aaron (Leslie) Smith, Austin (Jessy) Smith, Heather McMahon, Stephen Wesoloski, and Laura Ripley, 5 great grandchildren; Haylen, Ryker, Sydney, Tucker, and Nash, sister; Jonelle (John, deceased) Gregg, sister in law; Callie (Harvey, deceased) Smith, special niece; Christie (Dean) Strube, along with many nieces, nephews and everyone that called her "Aunt Neva".
She is preceded in death by her loving husband; Wilmer "Snuffy" Smith, parents; John and Nellie Marsh, siblings; Delia (Victor) Sperberg, Jack (June) Marsh, Carl Marsh, Nettie (Bill) Reuter, Enid (Jerry) Mattson, sister in law; Sally (Delbert) Giese.
