Michael J Stevens, 73, of Peshtigo, Wisconsin, passed away unexpectedly on July, 12, 2026 while swimming. Our family was not expecting Mike’s life to be cut short so soon. We are devastated and heartbroken by this loss. He will be forever missed.
Mike was born on June 19, 1953 to Judith [Odegard] and James Stevens in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He graduated from Menominee High School in 1971, the same year he met the love of his life, Mary [Pinegar]. Mary and Mike were married on November 5, 1976 and had two children, Emily and Tyler. They were partners in every sense of the word. They lived in Stuart, Florida from 2005 to 2025, but kept a summer home in northern Wisconsin, where they always considered “home.”
Mike befriended all whom he met. Many remember (often long) conversations with Mike, who definitely had the “gift of gab.” After a 15-year career in printing, Mike joined ERDA in the Sales Department, where he was able to really put this “gift” to use. He travelled widely, from Europe to China, for work. Mike retired in 2020 and spent his time outdoors doing what he loved, including boating, fishing, golfing, and riding through forests on his side-by-side.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents James Stevens, Judith [Stevens] Heegeman, Steven Heegeman; his brother Thomas Stevens; and his son Tyler Stevens. He is survived by his wife Mary Stevens; his daughter, Emily (Ryan Cassaday) Stevens; his granddaughter, Sonia Stevens Cassaday; his siblings Susan (Pat) McPhail, Patricia Kmecheck, Cathy Thetreau, Linda (Jeff) Bloszies, David Heegeman, and numerous close friends he considered “family.”
Mike will be sorely missed and forever remembered. Because he celebrated life, no formal funeral service is being planned. Instead, he will be honored with a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family request stories of Mike and examples of how he will be remembered.
