MENOMINEE, MICH. – An 82-year-old Menominee, Mich., man was sentenced to prison Feb. 6 for first degree criminal sexual conduct after his 14-year-old daughter reported a sexual assault at the family’s home last summer, Menominee County Prosecuting Attorney Jeffrey Rogg said.
41st Circuit Court Judge Christopher Ninomiya sentenced Ralph Joseph Khollman of Menominee to a term between seven to 20 years. He was given credit for 186 days of time served.
“You deserve to spend the rest of your days in prison,” Ninomiya told Khollman in the courtroom, Rogg said in a phone call on Feb. 9 with a reporter.
Rogg said Khollman was in Menominee County Jail, but would be transferred to a Michigan correctional facility in Jackson soon.
Khollman had pled no contest to one count of first degree sexual assault on Dec. 16, while several other counts were dropped, according to court records. Ninomiya found Khollman guilty and revoked his bond.
At the sentencing, Ninomiya said Khollman would have to register as a sex offender, comply with Global Positioning System monitoring and have no contact with several relatives whose names are being withheld to protect their identity. He was ordered not to go within 500 feet of their homes, workplaces or school.
Rogg commended the victim’s courage in reporting the crime.
“By turning her strength into meaningful action, we can all play a part in supporting survivors and in building a future where abuse is prevented before it begins,” he said.
