Marinette police share notification of release

Posted

MARINETTE – The Marinette Police Department has released the following information pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m) which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of a sex offender’s release/residence when, in the discretion of the agency, the release of information will enhance public safety, awareness and protection. The individual who appears on this notification has been convicted of a sex offense.

Keith Szela was released to the community on April 14 and will be living on Shore Drive in the City of Marinette between Parnell Street and Daggett Streets.

Szela is a 55-year-old male with a height of 5’9” and a weight of 300 lbs.
This offender must comply with all requirements of Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, have no unsupervised contact with minors, no contact with victims and not consume drugs. He must comply with standard sex offender rules and cooperate with electronic monitoring. Face-to-face contact with law enforcement is required.

Szela has served the sentence imposed on him by the courts. He is not wanted by the police at this time.

This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is the department’s belief that an informed public is a safer public.

Sex offenders have always lived in local communities; but it was not until the Sex Offender Registration and Community Notification Law was enacted that law enforcement was able to share this information with the community. Citizen abuse of this information to threaten, intimidate or harass registered sex offenders will not be tolerated.

For more information, please access the State of Wisconsin Sex Offender Registration (SOR) website at www.wistaysafe.gov.

To provide information regarding current criminal activity of these — or any other — offenders, call (715) 732-5200.
