MARINETTE — Coming off a breakthrough 6-4 campaign that saw the Marinette High School football team record a 5-2 mark in conference play, head coach Nate Anderson and the Marines are focusing on reloading rather than rebuilding for the 2026 season.
Marinette finished third in the conference standings last fall behind undefeated Kewaunee (7-0) and runner-up Bonduel (6-1). The six-win season marked a turning point for the program’s culture.
“Last year was kind of a breakthrough year for us to get over the hump,” Anderson said. “I felt we’ve been good enough to be a playoff team, but we just didn’t have the confidence and the winning mentality, the winning culture. I really think last year helped us get over that.”
While the Marines graduated key multi-year skill starters such as McGregor, Smith, and Hofer, Anderson points to the line play on both sides of the ball as the team’s primary core strength.
