MARINETTE – Less than a week removed from a double-overtime loss to Peshtigo, the Marinette High football team recorded its first Packerland Conference victory of the season on Thursday, Oct. 3 with a 41-6 blowout of Oconto.
There were plenty of highlights in this one, including three touchdowns from Marinette’s Ethan Doubek, who scored two on the ground and also tossed a touchdown pass to Braxtin Polzin, and a pick six from Cooper Smith early in the third quarter to put the Marines up 34-6.
The Blue Devils got a huge play early in the game when quarterback Aidan Hagel connected on a short pass to Landon Boucher, who took it up the left sideline 74 yards for a catch-and-run touchdown.
Up next, the Marines, 1-4 in conference, will travel to Mishicot while the Blue Devils, still looking for their first Packerland win of the season, will travel to Bonduel.
