Margaret Ester Wood (nee Kelly) age 90 of Harmony, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2024.
She was born on June 24, 1934, to Ruth and Terence Kelly. She attended Marinette Teacher’s College and taught in several one room school houses in the area. She also taught at Saint Mary’s in Peshtigo.
Margaret married Ronald Arthur Wood in 1954. Together they farmed the land which has been in her family since 1866. They were married 42 years until his death in 1996.
She enjoyed sewing, baking, crafting and gardening. She had been member of the Harmony Methodist Church, the Home and Community Education Association, the Peshtigo Historical Society and served many years as a docent at the Peshtigo Fire Museum. She served on the Harmony Cemetery Board and was a volunteer for the HCE Wisconsin Bookworm program. Margaret was a superintendent, worked and exhibited at the Marinette County Fair.
Margaret is survived by her daughters Carol (Jay) Janssen of Oshkosh, Diane (Jim) Johnston of Harmony, four grandchildren Erica (Dave) Beine, Natalie Janssen, Mathew (Korine Fideler) Johnston, Andrew (Ruth Weissgerber) Johnston, and 2 great-grandchildren Simon and Mitchell Beine.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Visitation will be held Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Berth & Rosenthal Funeral Home from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a service to follow.
