MARINETTE – After eight years of dedicated service to the Marinette community, Majors Joshua and Rhegan Stansbury of The Salvation Army Marinette Corps have received new appointments within The Salvation Army and will be transitioning to Milwaukee.
Their final Sunday in Marinette will be June 28, where they will deliver their final message during the 10:45 a.m. worship service, followed by a community potluck farewell.
Majors Joshua and Rhegan Stansbury have faithfully served Marinette and Menominee counties since their arrival, building strong relationships across the community while leading The Salvation Army’s mission of meeting human needs in Christ’s name.
During their tenure, the Stansburys led The Salvation Army through significant challenges and meaningful growth. One of their most notable accomplishments was continuing ministry without interruption during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We never stopped serving,” they said. “We simply changed how we served.”
The Stansburys also cultivated strong partnerships with local agencies, helping to coordinate seasonal programs and community-wide initiatives that brought organizations together for greater impact.
Their leadership extended beyond The Salvation Army — Major Joshua Stansbury actively served with the Peshtigo Lions Club and Major Rhegan Stansbury was a committed member of Rotary, where she served as secretary for five years
Throughout their time in Marinette, the Stansburys raised their three children — Josias, Lillianah and Isabella — who grew up deeply connected to the community.
“When we first arrived, Josias was just two years old, Lillianah was eight and Isabella was 10,” shared Major Rhegan. “The blessing of being able to stay in one place for eight years is not lost on us. Marinette will always be special to our family.”
This year marks a significant milestone for the family as their eldest daughter, Isabella, graduated from Marinette High School. She will attend North Dakota State University in Fargo, where she plans to pursue a degree in animal science with the goal of becoming a veterinarian.
The Stansburys’ new appointments will take them to The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center (ARC) in Milwaukee, where: Major Joshua will serve as a business administrator in training and Major Rhegan will serve as a program administrator in training.
The ARC provides a holistic, no-cost, faith-based residential recovery program designed to help individuals overcome substance abuse through counseling, structured living and work therapy.
“We are grateful for everything Marinette and Menominee counties have given us,” Major Joshua Stansbury said.
“This is a beautiful community, and we have felt deeply loved by both our church family and the community as a whole. While we are stepping into a new chapter, we are not going far — and we hope to return and stay connected whenever we can.”
With a spirit of gratitude and anticipation, the Stansburys leave behind a legacy of faith, service and community impact as they step into a new season of ministry — one that continues The Salvation Army’s mission of restoring lives and offering hope for the future.
The Salvation Army has appointed Majors Bob and Ruth Fay as the next leaders of the Marinette Corps. Though retired from active officership, they attend the Marinette church and are coming out of retirement to serve, joined by Lieutenant Logan Saydera, who will begin his first appointment following ordination.
