Lois Evelyn (Dowd) Pennington

of Wausaukee entered into eternal rest on January 12th , 2025. Lois was born Oct 13th , 1930, in Kingsford, MI to the late Lester and Lovica (Nussbaum) Dowd. When she was three, the Dowd family moved to Amberg where her father built the family home. Lois was one of nine students to graduate from Amberg High School in 1949. After high school, Lois moved to Milwaukee and worked at the Nehi Orange Bottling Co. In 1951 she married Marion Pennington. Together they had 6 children. They later divorced.

Lois led a simple but fulfilled life. Her family was her greatest accomplishment. For her kids and later her grandkids, she made it to every ball game, every concert. She may have only had seven biological grandchildren, but she was basically a Grandma to the entire town of Wausaukee. She was a full-time babysitter for many years out of her home. She had the best climbing trees in town and could stop you in your tracks with her mean tongue face. As she got older, her home became the landing pad for children who were home sick from school, a quick cartoon before a basketball game or a frozen pizza before CCD. Her home may have been small, but it was packed to the gills every holiday with the family that loved her!

Lois was blessed with a tremendous ability to remember people. She was the original social media! She could remember your name, your mother’s name, your grandfather’s name, who you graduated with, when your birthday was. And if she didn’t know you, she would surely find out! The best was, even at 94 years old, she still remembered you all!

Lois is survived by her sons: Dan (Jacki) of Brookfield, Tom (Annette) of Wausaukee, and Tim of Green Bay; daughters: Linda (Robert) Stevens of Marinette, and Judy (Jeff) Engelmann of Wausaukee. Seven grandchildren: Carrie, Christin, Carla, Curt, Angie, Tracy and Mike. Thirteen great-grandchildren, with two more on the way. Lois is also survived by her sister Jean Dohm of Manitowoc.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Debbie, daughter-in-law, Bonnie, brother and sister-in-law Ted and Janine Dowd, sister Darlene Mull, and sister and brother-in- law Eleanor and Calvin Reimer.

Visitation will be held at Roubal Funeral Home in Wausaukee on Saturday January 18th from 9- 11am. Service will follow.

The family would like to send a special thank you to The First Presbyterian Church of Wausaukee who kept Lois in their prayers, visited her and sent many cards over the years. They would also like to thank Sun Valley Assisted Living for taking good care of her the past 4 years.

Roubal Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
