Gregory Michael Polomis, age 75, of the Town of Wagner, passed away on April 17, 2026. Greg was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Green Bay, WI, on November 8, 1950, to the late George and Lorraine (Andersen) Polomis.

He attended St. Augustine grade school through the 8th grade and then graduated from Wausaukee High School in 1969. As a child, his first job was a paper route in Wausaukee, delivering the Green Bay Press-Gazette. He then worked at the Sinclair Gas Station throughout high school. Upon graduation, he worked construction until being drafted into the United States Army in May 1970; as Greg would say, it was the only lottery he ever won. He served in Vietnam, spending his 20th and 21st birthdays there. Upon returning home, he worked for the Marinette County Highway Department for 35.5 years, where he was known as Greg the Grader Man.

On June 24, 1972, he married the love of his life, Virginia (Ginny) Long, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Walsh, WI. Together, they shared nearly 54 years of marriage filled with love and laughter. They had three wonderful children, Douglas (Jennifer), Karri (significant other Scott Lake), and Matthew (Julie). Six grandchildren, Carson, Keegan, Kennedy, Jaycob Kosmecki (fiancée Alyssa DeKeyser), Caden, and Jaylen.

He is survived by his four brothers, John and Gayle, Mark and Carol, Dan and Linda, and Mike and Carolee, and his brother-in-law, Franklin (Sonny) Orlando. He is also survived by his in-laws, Greg and Linda Long, Rita and Steve Renikow, Eunice and Jim Puetzer, Marilynn and Paul Schneider, Keith Long (Laurie Page), Annette and Tom Pennington, Charlene Long, Karen and Mike Finger, and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Orlando, sister Barb and Garry Parrett, brother Fred and Renee Polomis, brother-in-law John (Slick) Long, and his in-laws Edward and Emma Long.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 24, 2026, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 808 Henriette Ave, Crivitz, WI 54114. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. A Christian Burial Mass will follow at 11:00 AM, with Father David Schmidt officiating. Military Honors will be rendered afterward, and lunch will be served in the parish hall.

Greg kindly requested no flowers; in his words, “save your money.”

Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home is assisting the family.
