PESHTIGO – Mike Biundo and his family are eagerly awaiting a chance to fire up the ovens and dish out their homemade pizzas during the grand opening of Frankie’s Pizzeria this weekend.
Frankie’s Pizzeria will be picking up where Peppino’s, LLC left off and continuing a generations-long tradition of family businesses.
Biundo shared that his family has been in the restaurant industry since 1981, when his uncle, Luigi, started his business venture and Biundo’s parents joined him by opening Lillian’s in Coleman.
“My brother Frank and I worked at mom and dad’s and also for uncle Luigi. Later, we opened our location here in 2004,” he explained.
Family members have branched out beyond Northeast Wisconsin to even include Biundo’s Pizzeria in Texas, which is owned by Mike Biundo’s cousins.
The brothers grew their culinary and business skills together, but unfortunately Franco “Frank” Biundo passed away in October 2025.
Biundo hopes to honor his brother and business partner through the updated name Frankie’s Pizzeria.
Preparing to restart the restaurant, Biundo said, “It feels like home. Obviously it’s a little different because my brother passed away, but I feel his presence.”
He continued, “I feel excited, nervous and proud. It’s been a long time and I miss it. I’ve missed the people and I’ve missed the whole thing.”
Those who have dined with the Biundo’s and new customers alike can look forward to pizzas and calzones — with made-from-scratch dough and sauce — served with drinks from the remodeled bar. The menu also includes a variety of Italian pasta dishes, sandwiches, appetizers and more.
As the opening date approaches, Biundo is looking forward to carrying on the family tradition with the next generation.
“We really take pride in being a part of the community. We just really enjoy what we do and we do it with 100% of our hearts.”
Frankie’s Pizzeria is located at W4343 Stibbe Ln., Peshtigo, and will open on Friday, March 27. For more information, call (715) 582-3416 or follow Frankie’s Pizzeria on Facebook.
