Dottie Staffeldt

Dottie Staffeldt, age 82, passed away September 21, 2024 at her home in Porterfield of natural causes with her family by her side. She was born on April 11, 1942 to Douglas and Evelyn (Gordon) White in Sycamore, Illinois. She graduated from Naperville Community High School with the Class of 1960. On March 11, 1961, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Staffeldt.

At age 11 she earned her first Amateur Radio license as WN9GBI and later, she earned her General Class license as WB9NCT. She fulfilled a promise to her father by earning her Extra Class license in 2012. Her mother taught her knitting and sewing. Dottie made hundreds of stockings for family and friends. She also had taught piano and organ lessons and was one of the founders of the Naperville Organ Society. She was also an avid quilt maker.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; daughters, Catherine (Melvin) Strommen and Charlotte Staffeldt; and son, David (Cynthia) Staffeldt; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Maria) Strommen and their children, Liam, Jase and Cora; Christopher (Maria) Strommen and their children, Vincent and Ashton; Daniel Strommen, Jennifer Strommen and Kristine Staffeldt. Survivors also include her sister, Jean Brooker; her brother, Donald (Mary Beth) White; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douglas and Evelyn.

Visitation will be held at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Saturday, September 28th beginning at 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in Winesville Cemetery in the Town of Porterfield.

Mom was a bright star and a cheerleader for friends and family. Her story touched many lives!
