Daniel Ehlers

Daniel Ehlers passed away on October 15 at the age of 63.  Dan is the son of Richard and June Ehlers of Peshtigo. He married the former Julie Clermont in 1981 and served in the US Air Force from 1980 to 1987. Dan was stationed at KI Sawyer Air Force Base with the 87th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, where their daughter Kendall was born. The family later transferred to Griffiss AFB in Rome, New York. With the 49th FIS, and moved back to Peshtigo in 1987 where their daughter Erin was born. Dan was employed at Jet Air in Green Bay, and later at Badger Paper Mills. His next employment was with Proctor and Gamble in Green Bay, and retired after 20 years with the company. During his employment with P&G he accepted a transfer to Utah to assist with the start up of the new Box Elder plant. He later transferred to the P&G plant in Oxnard, California. Following a short retirement, Dan was a manager at Neenah Paper for 2 years, and then became a self- employed consultant for P&G and Duracell until his illness.

Dan was a Class A trapshooter and enjoyed  the sport around the country since his teen years along with his dad Richard, his brother Tim, and friend Jon. They attended many State Trapshooting Tournaments together.

Dan loved cars, drag racing, and building, designing and flying RC planes with his grandson Layton, his best buddy.  He loved family, his girls were Daddy’s girls for sure, and he loved Charlie, his faithful dog.

Dan is survived by his wife Julie, daughter Erin and grandson Layton. Further survived by mother June Ehlers, sister Linda (Neal) Philibeck, brother Tim (Debra) Ehlers, in-laws Steve Clermont Jr., Jerilyn LaCanne, Kathy (Kevin) Bearson, Shawn Clermont and Cheryl Clermont, many nieces and nephews.

Dan is preceded in death by his father Richard Ehlers, brothers-in-law Jim Clermont, Clark Clermont, niece Stephanie Auger, nephew Jason Lund, and mother-in-law and father-in-law Geraldine and Steve Clermont.  Also preceded in death by daughter Kendall at age 21, reunited at last.  Private services will be held, Berth and Rosenthal Funeral Home is assisting the family.

The family of Dan wishes to thank Dr. Tyion Torres, and the Cancer Team at Bellin Health, and the staff of Unity Hospice for their professional, compassionate care of Dan during the years of his illness.
