It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of CYNTHIA LEE ANASTASIA SCHOEN, of Marinette, a beautiful soul who touched the lives of everyone she met. She departed this world and entered eternal life on Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the age of 66, at Rennes East, Peshtigo.

Born on July 7,1959 in Chilton, WI, Cindy was the beloved daughter of David “Bruce” Schoen and Carol (Olson) Schoen. Cindy graduated from Marinette High School in 1977, where she was an accomplished athlete in track, basketball and volleyball.  She was pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice from UW-Oshkosh, when she was involved in a car accident on June 1, 1980 which prevented her from completing her degree.  Prior to her accident, Cindy worked at The Coach Lite Lanes, Dome Lanes and Michiel’s Lane Refinishing. Following her accident she was a dedicated employee of Goodwill Industries for many years. She was a member of Holy Family Parish.

Cindy was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan with her own season tickets, and enjoyed playing cards, doing word searches, going to movies, playing Bingo and going for rides.  She also loved to play pool in her early years.  She embraced life with an open heart and a joyful spirit and impacted countless lives with her ready smile, contagious laughter and spunky attitude.

Cindy is survived by her mother, Carol Michiels who lovingly cared for her for 46 years following her accident; siblings Dean (Bonnie) Schoen, Kelly (Dan) Schewe, Todd Schoen, Rhonda (Dan) Madsen, Ryan (Michele) Schoen; step brother Mike (Lisa) Michiels and step sister Cheri (Dave) Olsen; Bruce’s long-time companion Mary Hauser; many cherished nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, Bruce Schoen; step father Walter “Mike” Michiels, and step brothers Tom and Jeff Michiels.

Cindy’s family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the staff at Rennes East for their dedication to and care of Cindy during her last months.  She loved her caregivers and also loved to give them a hard time.  Thanks also to Amy Anderson most recently,  and many others including Marianne Gauthier and Vanessa Asaro, for the support and friendship offered to Cindy and our family throughout Cindy’s life journey.

Funeral Services for Cindy will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Thielen Funeral Home 1403 Newberry Ave. Marinette, WI.  Visitation precedes the service from 9am until the time of the service.  A private burial will be held at Glenwood Memorial Gardens at a later date. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Cindy’s memory will be put towards a Memorial Bench and causes close to Cindy’s heart.

Rest in peace, dear “Cinderella”. Your spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

Cynthia, Schoen, Obituary
