CRIVITZ – The Crivitz Village Board held their most recent meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 28. After approving the consent agenda, the board heard comments from the public.
Peggy Miller, former family court commissioner and register in probate for Oconto County, appeared before the board to discuss her role in the community. She shared that as a family court commissioner, she has experience listening to both sides and is not bound by restrictions from private sector work as she has been out of that area for six years now.
Miller updated the board that after the village has had to pay a reserve judge, she has now completed her training and will begin her role as judge.
She continued, informing that she will run again when she is up for reelection in April of 2025. Miller urged the public to “make good on your investment,” as Crivitz now has a fully-trained judge and could save money by not having to pay a reserve judge again.
Afterwards, the board provided some information regarding plans to purchase property around the Dyer Business Park. The Village of Crivitz was informed that the properties were valued at $60,000-$65,000.
After discussion of the price, the board decided to go forward with an offer of $15,000-$20,000. If their offer is not accepted, they plan to contact a real estate agent.
The board then approved new contracts. This included an agent change to Krist Oil and accepting an assessment contract with R&R, LLC. Crivitz will be performing a full village reassessment in 2025 through this new contract.
Next, the village board heard two equipment requests. They approved the fire department’s request for ice water rescue suits for an amount not to exceed $4,000 and paid for in part by a safety grant.
The board did approve public work’s request for a vehicle and accessories for an amount not to exceed $125,000. To stay within this amount the board decided to purchase the vehicle and a $10,000 plow. They will purchase a sander for $6,000 next year.
The Crivitz Village Board will meet next on Wednesday, Sept. 25, at 6 p.m. in the Crivitz Village Hall at 800 Henriette Ave., Crivitz.
