PULASKI – Coleman collected 121.5 points to finish in seventh place on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Pulaski Invitational.
Micah Kuchta took home a second place finish and 22 team points in the 165-pound division while Brady Gross also finished in second place at 144 pounds, good for 23 team points. Kain Otto scored 18 points by finishing in fourth place at 285 pounds and Devin Otto, wrestling at 215 pounds, also brought in 18 points for the Cougars with a fourth place finish.
The Peshtigo wrestling team scored 58 points as a team to finish in 12th place out of the 17 teams in contention on Saturday, Jan. 27 at the Pulaski Invitational.
Reese Yunke, wrestling at 144 pounds, finished fifth and brought in 13 team points while teammate Brenden Conn, at 132 pounds, scored 11 points on his way to a seventh-place showing.
The Oconto Falls wrestlers finished the Pulaski Invitational with 71.5 points to come in 10th place on Saturday, Jan. 27.
Garrett Ganter was the invite’s top competitor at 106 pounds, scoring 25 points for his team. Cole Bozile took third place at 138 pounds for 18.5 points and Nick Trepanier scored four points with a sixth-place finish at 190 pounds.
Peshtigo powers past Kewaunee
PESHTIGO – Wrestling in their home gym, the Bulldogs prevailed over the Storm on Thursday, Jan. 25 by a final score of 57-21.
Nathan Kleikamp, wrestling at 144 pounds, scored a victory by fall at 0:37; LIncoln Nemec won by fall at 2:36 in the 165-pound bout; Zach Sherman won by fall at 0:22 to claim victory at 175 pounds; Connor Thomas, at 215 pounds, won by fall at 1:10; Evelyn Hurley won at 106 pounds with a 4:00 fall and at 126, Levi Nemec scored a win by fall at 0:42.
Cougars fall to Spartans
LUXEMBURG – The Coleman wrestling team traveled to Luxemburg on Tuesday, Jan. 23 to take on the Division 2 powerhouse Spartans, scoring a handful of solid victories in a 41-23 loss.
At 157 pounds, Cole Berth won by fall at 2:47 for six points; Isaiah Nowak was up next at 165 and he took care of his opponent via 15-3 major decision; MIcah Kuchta made it three wins in a row for Coleman late in the dual with a 9-1 major decision and Kain Otto claimed the win at 285 pounds with a win by fall at 3:14.
Blue Devils take third at Sorenson Classic
STURGEON BAY – Four Timesland wrestling teams were in competition at Sturgeon Bay High on Saturday, Jan. 27 for the Dirk Sorenson Door County Classic, with the Oconto squad leading the group with a third place finish.
Oconto, on its way to 139 team points, got a second-place finish out of Cody Stamsta in the 113-pound division, along with another second-place showing for Dominic Caylor at 165 pounds. At 138 pounds, Ethan Wusterbarth brought home third.
Lena scored 66 points and ended up in 12th overall, led by third place finishes from Max Peterson at 144 pounds and Sam Peterson at 106. Lucas Heimke added a fourth place finish at 138 for the Wildcats.
Suring/Gillett was in 14th place with 42 points after getting a third place from Carter Whisman at 190 pounds and a fifth-place finish from Gavin Staszak.
In 15th place out of the 16 teams competing with 35 points, Crivitz/Wausaukee was led by a fourth-place finish from Austin Doyen at 157 pounds and a sixth-place finish from Andrew Lawrence at 150.
Local Girl’s teams compete in Shawano
SHAWANO – A handful of Timesland girls’ wrestling teams were on hand for the Shawano Invitational held on Friday, Jan. 26, with Peshtigo finishing tied for eighth place out of the 32 teams competing with 28 points.
Addisen Olson took first place for the Bulldogs at 126 pounds, taking the championship bout by 5-4 decision. Evelyn Hurley was second at 100 pounds and Grace Tebo finished fifth at 100 pounds.
The Marinette squad was led by a second-place finish from Grace Holguin at 107 pounds while teammate Jazleen Fong-baake took fourth at 120 pounds.
Lena’s Miriam Alberts, wrestling at 145 pounds, accounted for all of Lena’s points with a sixth place finish.
The Suring/Gillett team got five points from Parker Zahn with her fifth place showing at 132 pounds and Faith Thurman was the top finisher for Oconto Falls, finishing sixth in the 120-pound division.
