COLEMAN - The Coleman Cougars hosted the ClintonvilleTruckers on the evening of Sept. 13 for a Northwoods showdown that saw the Cougars improve to 2-0 while the Truckers were left spinning their wheels with a 0-2 readout.
Coleman was fast and furious in the opening quarter, slashing up the yardage on their way to a 29-0 first quarter lead. The Cougars first score came off a reverse that saw Tristan Kostreva slice back across the field for the early score at 9:18.
On the ensuing Clintonville drive Micah Kuchta helped to deflate the Truckers morale by pulling down an interception which he carried for 15 yards before being brought down.
Kolton Peters increased the Cougars lead with four and half minutes left in the opening frame by going 35 yards to pay dirt. Peters also displayed some brilliant speed on defense in the Truckers next possession when de chased down a deep pass, pulling it down for Coleman’s second interception of the night.
With two minutes left in the quarter Coleman’s West Bieber blasted his way through the goal line on a two yard bull rush helping to bring the Cougars to a 22-0 lead.
Before the quarter could end, Peters busted loose on one more big rush going 38 yards to the house for yet another Coleman TD.
The first quarter also saw Bryce Seefeldt break through the Trucker O-line for two big game changing QB sacks.
Coleman scored one more time in the second quarter off a QB keeper from Kuchta, taking the 35-0 lead with time waning in the half.
Clintonville’s Zachery Johnson worked his way into the end zone before the end of the half to give the game an intermission readout of 36-7.
Peters added a TD in the third to make it a 42-7 game while Zack Ziemer scored the game’s final TD with eight minutes left in the game bringing the score to 49-7.
Neat the end of the fourth quarter Kostreva helped to put the nail in the coffin with his second interception of the night.
