Communities plan for Independence Day celebrations

NORTHEAST WIS. AND MICH. – In recognition of America’s 250th birthday, communities across Oconto, Marinette and Menominee, Mich., are proud to share their exciting Fourth of July celebrations.

Beecher Dunbar Pembine 250 Years Celebration

The Beecher Pembine Dunbar (BDP) Chamber of Commerce will host holiday festivities on Friday, July 3, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Families can enjoy a variety of children’s activities, including a bubble station, train rides, a “Chalk the Streets” area, free face painting with D’s Creative Faces and bounce houses courtesy of Lisa Hanson.

Food trucks will be on-site, and a photo booth will be open at ZibLor’s in Pembine from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Attendees can also browse a craft fair from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. or try their luck with raffles drawn at different locations throughout the night.

The band Victorious will perform at Winters Family Restaurant from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., while Lone Riders Karaoke will host singing at the Silver Dollar from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The night will conclude with a grand fireworks display at dusk, which is scheduled for 9:30 p.m.

The celebration continues on July 4, when guests can start their day with a pancake breakfast at Richards, followed by a community fishing tournament held in Dunbar from 10 a.m. until noon.

If the fireworks are postponed due to rain, they will be rescheduled for the night of the community picnic on August 1.

City of Menominee Independence Day Celebration

The City of Menominee is hosting a Fourth of July celebration from 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at 1000 1st Street and Great Lakes Memorial Marina Park in Menominee, Mich.

The festivities kick off with the Kiddie Parade for 250 Years Celebrating America.

Participants can begin lining up at 2 p.m. at the Zelm Building on 1st Street and the parade will officially start at 2:30 p.m., traveling down to the end of the 1st Street playground.

This year’s theme is “All the Decades of America,” and families are encouraged to dress their children to represent any era from the 1950s through the 2010s. Walkers, bicycles and wagons are all welcome, and participants are invited to bring candy to throw.

Prizes will be awarded for the best-dressed individuals and groups, and all parade participants will receive a free freeze pop at the end of the route, courtesy of 35th & Coffee.
Following the parade, inflatables will be operating from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m., while carnival games and a free crafts station will run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Later in the evening, professional face painting will be offered from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. To access the primary children’s attractions, families can purchase full-activity wristbands for $20 each, or opt for individual tickets priced at two for $1 or 15 for $5. Only individual tickets will be available for purchase after 7 p.m.

In addition to the youth events, community members can enjoy various food options and live entertainment throughout the grounds. The band Bad Mother Truckers will take the stage to provide live music for the crowd. The entire celebration will conclude with a special fireworks display over the water at dusk.

Crivitz Fourth of July

Crivitz will begin its annual Fourth of July celebration with a Flea & Farmers Market, which will be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

At 10:30 a.m., community members can gather at the Veteran’s Memorial in the park for a formal flag-raising ceremony and the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Immediately following these opening ceremonies, the annual parade will march through the area at 11 a.m.

Afterwards, attendees are invited to the Crivitz Community Veterans Park for a full day of family entertainment with a variety of food and beverage choices available throughout the day. To help support the local veterans hosting the event, organizers request a strict policy of no outside carry-ins. Additionally, pets are strictly prohibited inside the park grounds.

The park will offer several attractions all afternoon, including axe throwing, community raffles and a youth splash pad proudly sponsored by the CBA. Live musical entertainment will play all day long, featuring a DJ as well as The Asphalt Gypsies (sponsored by NEW Care, Inc.) and Brass Differential.

Finally, a fireworks display is scheduled for 9:30 p.m., which is sponsored by Witt’s Piggly Wiggly and ACE Hardware. In the event of inclement weather, a rain date has been set for the fireworks display only on Sunday, July 5, at 9:30 p.m. For more details or general inquiries about the event, community members can visit www.crivitz.com.

Gillett Fourth of July Celebration

The Gillett Civic Club is sponsoring a two-day community celebration at Zippel Park.

The festival officially opens on Friday, July 3, featuring a late-afternoon food special from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. with hamburgers, hot dogs and beer available for purchase. In the evening there will be musical performances from Next Time Around and Petty Cash as well as a competitive truck pull at the grandstand at 7 p.m.

The celebration continues on Saturday, July 4, with a full slate of morning events starting at 9 a.m. The grandstand will host a traditional horse pull event, while the 17th Annual Antique & Classic Car, Truck, and Motorcycle Show opens in Zippel Park.

Admission is completely free for car show spectators, and food and drinks can be purchased at the Civic Club Food Stand. Vehicle registration runs from 9 a.m. to noon with a $10 entry fee, and commemorative dash plaques will be given to the first 100 vehicles registered. Country Rewind will be performing at the beer stand from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m., the community will gather for the annual Fourth of July Parade, which will start and end directly at Zippel Park. This year’s procession features Grand Marshals Mitch and Julie Meunier and centers around the patriotic milestone.

Following the conclusion of the parade, Acoustic Vinyl will be playing at the beer stand from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Grandstand events resume at 5 p.m. with an antique tractor pull. The Highway 32 Band will play from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The celebration will officially conclude with a fireworks display launched over the park at dusk.

Goodman Fire Department Fourth of July Street Dance

The community is invited to celebrate with the Goodman Fire Department during their annual Fourth of July Street Dance on Friday, July 3. The celebration will take place from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Goodman Municipal Building, located at 506 Mill St.

Families can enjoy a variety of activities throughout the evening, including a bounce house for the kids, raffles and an assortment of food and drinks. Live entertainment will be provided by Audion Entertainment LLC and DJ Seismic, with the music officially kicking off at 7 p.m. The night’s festivities will also feature a fireworks display launched at dusk.

Admission to the street dance is completely free, but attendees are asked to note that no outside carry-ins are permitted. All proceeds generated from the event will go directly toward purchasing needed equipment for the fire department.

Marinette County Fair Independence Day Celebration

Independence Day celebrations on Saturday, July 4, will be held at the Marinette County Fairgrounds in Wausaukee and sponsored by Koehne Powersports.

The festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with a selection of craft booths and vendors open on the grounds. Attendees can then head over to enjoy the downtown parade, which is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Starting at 2 p.m., the atmosphere will pick up with music provided by Spitfire DJ.

Also beginning at 2 p.m. is the Independence Day Car Show, which welcomes registrations earlier in the day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The show features a wide variety of classes.

Registration for the cornhole tournament runs from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. before the 3 p.m. competition. The entry is a $20 fee per team and a 100% payout prize pool. Following the tournament, a mini rod pull will take place in the grandstand at 5 p.m.

The evening continues with live music from the band Mockingbird, performing from 6 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. The celebration will officially conclude with fireworks at dusk.

Throughout the entire day, families can take advantage of bounce houses for the kids, and a variety of food and drinks will be available for purchase on-site. Please note that outside carry-ins are not permitted on the fairgrounds.

Townsend Fourth of July

Townsend will kick off its Independence Day celebration on July 4 with a craft fair running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also beginning at 9 a.m., community members can head over to the local fire department. The department will be offering food and drinks, meat raffles throughout the day and live music from the band Lovin Country from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., all concluding with a final prize drawing at 5 p.m.

At noon, the annual Fourth of July parade will take place, where residents and visitors can line the streets to celebrate. Attendees are encouraged to visit the town website at www.townsendwisconsin.org to view information regarding the new parade route and available parking options.

Later in the evening, the celebration shifts to Veterans Memorial Park for a night of family fun. Concession stands will open at 7 p.m. and remain operational until the fireworks begin, offering a variety of snacks and drinks. Organizers request that guests refrain from bringing outside carry-ins into the park. The entire holiday celebration will come to a close at dusk with a fireworks display.
