CRIVITZ – The M&O had all five of the conference teams in the Crivitz gym to see if any Individuals, let alone teams could rattle the cage of the Cougars and stop them from once again taking the conference title. The entire night Coleman only gave up 18 team points in four dual meets, the dominance was impressive. It would be hard to find a comparison to Coleman’s rich history, and this is another notch for the Cougar’s belt. With the depth of the Cougar squad, picking a star seems difficult, but it’s impossible to ignore the boost Connor Markiewicz has infused in this team from the side of the mat.
Crivitz/Wausaukee posted possibly their strongest night of the season, a decisive second place after struggling with the powerhouse cougars. The wolverines received impressive improved performances from HWT Colten Crooks, 150 pound Andrew Lawrence, and 132 pound freshman Kallen Betka, all going 3-1. The Crivitz captains also cleaned up on the home mat with Austin Doyen and AJ Kaufamn both going 3-1, and Evan Kaufman going 4-0.
Lena slotted themselves into third place in the conference, the wildcats are young and have a ton of upside. Their leaders of the night were 175 pound Colt Miller, 144 pound Max Peterson, 132 pound John Hurtado, light weight Sam Peterson and Lucas Hiemke at 138 all going 3-1. Look for Lena to push the Cougars next year.
Carter Whisman of Suring/Gillett went 3-1 and Garrett School of Suring/Gillett went 2-1.
Nelson Ninham of Oneida Nation went 3-1.
Inspired Coleman wrestlers run through Crivitz multi-dual
CRIVITZ – The cougars came out strong and didn’t stop feasting on the home team wolverines and Southern Door Eagles until the entire team had eaten. First sending Southern Door back to the Peninsula beating them 53-19. The first two matches of the dual went back and forth. Micha Kuchta of Coleman came out wrestling third in the line up, pinned his opponent in 43 seconds, and the team didn’t look back, winning 7 in a row after Kuchta’s quick pin.
In the final dual of the night the Cougars stuck the hosts 73-6, with the only Crivitz win going to Evan Kaufman. The leaders of the Colman team shined again with Kuchta pinning the proficient leg riding Austin Doyen of Crivitz in 3:27.
The Entire Cougars team came out efficient, inspired, and in matching shirts. Everyone in gym could feel the Cougars put the extra edge to the opponents on the mat. Coleman came together to honor light weight Connor Markiewicz, who was in the building for the multi dual. Connor suffered a serious injury to his back during a match earlier in the year, when coach Champagne was asked about the shirts he said his team is really coming together for Connor and using the motivation going into the late season. With regionals on the horizon Colman sets it sights high, and the inspiration is coming from Markiewicz.
