MARINETTE – Marinette County Home Community and Education (HCE) held their annual Christmas party at the Marinette Senior Center on Saturday, Dec. 13 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Members from each club brought finger foods to share for their lunch. The Equity Club from the Coleman/Pound area was in charge of the day’s activities.
Micki Lewandowski welcomed everyone and let club members each share their task to entertain the group. The theme was Christmas is For The Birds. They talked about the winter birds and decorated the tables with birds. Attendees played a Christmas joke and trivia game and then each member read a note and then picked a present from the table.
Twelve volunteers held up a card with a number of birds and other items to help sing “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” with the group also singing. The song has seven birds in it. They talked about each bird before it was sung.
There were 30 county members in attendance. A jar filled with M&Ms was a prize for the closest. An ‘M’ on its side makes an ‘E’ standing for star in the east, ‘M’ for the manger, ‘M’ facing to the left make 3 standing for the three wisemen and upside down ‘W’ stands for worship.
Marion Elais’s daughter Tina Baye made all the bird houses on the tables and other hanging Christmas themed crafts. Terri Carlson’s daughter Cindy Guillen made a beautiful bird feeder with kitchen pottery. Micki also demonstrated how to make a hanging pinecone bird feeder with peanut butter and bird seed.
To end the day, Terri played guitar and everyone sang Christmas carols.
New members are welcome to join any of the six clubs in the county. Call president Hope Reines at (715) 567-4466 for more information.
