Chamber of commerce hosts Senior Jump Start event at Peshtigo High School

PESHTIGO – Members of the Peshtigo Area Chamber of Commerce hosted 60 graduating students for their Senior Jump Start event to discuss what comes next in their lives.

A panel of eight professionals gave presentations and answered questions. The speakers and topics included:

• Credit and credit scores — Aric Chaltry, Stephenson National Bank & Trust
• Personal loans, credit cards and payment services — Kris Pashek, NEW Credit Union
• Savings and investing — Brian Sabel, Edward Jones Financial
• Vehicle purchasing — Stuart Spink, Koehne Chevrolet GMC
• Vehicle and renters insurance — Tabith Armbruster of Wisconsin-Michigan Insurance Agency
• Renting — Lisa Grabowski, Middle Rental Management
• Mortgages — Bert Schonfeld, Rate Mortgage
• Home ownership — Karen Pluff, New Home Real Estate.

A slide show presentation and handouts gave students valuable information to take with them, especially once they leave home.

Chamber Vice President Lisa Grabowski noted that while they might not need some of these services right away, the goal is that down the road they will remember some of the key points or who can assist them.

The chamber presented the students with 2026 graduation key chains, stress balls, water and snacks.

Chamber President Karen Pluff said this was the third year of giving this presentation to the senior class, and it has been a huge success. Pluff stated that they look forward to continuing to support and collaborate with the school district.

Peshtigo Middle/High School Principal Dave Moody thanked the chamber and local business representatives for taking the time to meet with students to help them learn this important information.

Pluff also added that the chamber will be presenting four scholarships to the graduating Peshtigo class on May 13 at their awards and scholarship banquet.
