Carol J. Bregger, 88, of Marinette, passed away Thursday evening, April 2, 2026, at Luther Home in Marinette, surrounded by family and supportive staff. She was born August 18, 1937, in Marinette to Emma and Charles Fronsee.
Carol spent her early life in the town of McAllister and graduated from Wausaukee High School with the Class of 1955. She married Glen Bregger of Middle Inlet in 1956. In her early adult years, she worked at Marathon Paper and Vernco.
Carol found her greatest joy in caring for others, often expressed through her love of baking and cooking. Her home was always filled with the warmth of something delicious in the oven and the comfort of a welcoming heart. She took pride in her flowers, tending to them with care, and found simple happiness in watching the birds that gathered on the nearby birdfeeder. Her kitchen table was more than just a place to eat—it was a cherished gathering spot where family and friends came together in love, laughter, and heartfelt conversation.
She treasured every moment spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. In earlier years, she enjoyed hitting the road to support loved ones, traveling to attend sporting events, concerts, and recitals, always eager to cheer them on and share in their accomplishments. Her presence brought warmth, encouragement, and a deep sense of belonging to all who knew her.
Carol is survived by her two daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; daughter, Brenda (Joe) Behringer of Peshtigo, their children: Ben (Brooke) Dehne and Max Behringer; and daughter, Debra (John) Matulewicz of Marinette, their daughter, Melissa (Tim) Schneider and children: Willow and Aspen; and their son, Nathan (Teresa) Matulewicz and children: Nora, Hunter, and Liam. She is also survived by sisters Arlene (Jerry) Madsen and Dorothy Wiberg; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Charles Renner and Renee Heinz. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Bregger, of 61 years; two sisters Betty Fronsee and Geneva Pecor; and three brothers Willard, Lawrence and Kenneth Fronsee.
Family and friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Paul Hueter officiating. Burial will be in Community Lutheran Cemetery in McAllister.
The family extends a special thanks to Luther Home and Heartland Hospice for their compassion and care!
