Bloom and Brook officially plants roots in Crivitz

Posted

PESHTIGO – Shannon Thoma recently hosted the grand opening for Bloom & Brook, a full-service florist’s shop that is stocked year-round with vibrant floral offerings.

Thoma recounted that she always had a passion for flowers as a hobby and started off growing in a small patch on a brook outlet in her backyard, which would later lend itself to the name Bloom & Brook.

From there, her cousin introduced her to different types of cut flowers like dahlias. This captivated Thoma as she learned the process of starting seeds all the way to creating floral arrangements and captured the attention of community members when she began posting online.

She explained that people began reaching out to her, “They wanted flowers because somebody had done something wonderful in life or somebody was going through a rough time. It just felt so good that I could provide something beautiful to be uplifting and be a bright spot.”

Thoma took advantage of this demand and — after months of work with her family behind the scenes — opened Bloom & Brook to fill a gap in the business community.

Bloom & Brook had their soft launch on Friday, April 3, as the business grows their roots in the community. Although still in the early days, Thoma said that the support has been continuous.

“This weekend felt like something I’ll never forget. Watching people walk through the shop, picking out flowers for someone they love… it meant more than I can even put into words,” she wrote online.

Fellow businesses have also demonstrated their appreciation, including Sharkey’s Greenhouses — which previously sold cut flowers before concentrating on the greenhouse offerings.

Thoma’s offerings include pre-designed and specialty bouquets with homegrown flowers that align with the current seasons and holidays.
She shared that she specializes in “garden-inspired and natural” bouquets, currently utilizing spring-toned tulips and planning for “soft, romantic” Mother’s Day blooms.

“My style is more garden inspired and natural. It’s a little bit less traditional, which is going to be a little bit new for people. I have a little bit more movement and more textures in my arrangements, and I really focus on making each arrangement feel intentional and elevated and not not mass produced,” Thoma said.

“It’s really important for me to stick to that style, but still give the community what they are looking for,” she added.

Her nature-infused style is carried across an array of current spring bloom offerings, year-round sympathy bouquets and funeral arrangements, which can be ordered any day of the week with delivery options available.

Bloom & Brook also carries limited specialties like premium seasonal drops and prom florals — currently available for order now through April 15.

In the future, Thoma hopes to offer more classes like her upcoming spiral technique workshop in June.

“We’re really just trying to build something that’s very longterm here and we’re hoping to be the go-to florist in Crivitz,” Thoma shared.

“I have the love and the passion to be there for people’s special moments and a love for the flowers.”

Bloom & Brook is located W7250 St Paul Rd. in Crivitz. For more information about their current offerings, visit their Facebook page or call (920) 327-8439.
