US Immigration is a hot topic… again. Before I go on, it is important to know that, yes, I am a Democrat. No, I don’t approve of how the Dems are negotiating immigration. And, my biggest personal concern is electing people who will actually work for us. If you remember anything from my campaign, it is that I ran because I was/am exhausted of incumbents doing nothing. I’d bet most of you would agree with me on that.

The right screams that we should shut down the border, but can’t articulate how that would work. Between the border being approximately 2,000 miles and Mexico is the no. 1 trade partner of the US. Gov Greg Abbott is sending illegal immigrants to blue cities. This is having the effect of raising concern amongst Dem voters. BUT, it recently came to light that Gov Abbott is using the TX National Guard to block Border Patrol from entering Eagle Pass to process migrants.

Why would he do such a thing? It is because the right has zero intention of fixing the border crisis. None. They want to weaponized human beings and hurt Democrats in the next election. Think about it. Before Congress went on a Christmas break, Senators Schumer and McConnell reached a border agreement that would give the Republicans everything they wanted, except a wall and prison style ankle bracelets for minors. That sounds like a pretty big win for the right. But, the Republicans walked away from the table. GOP Congressman Troy Nehls openly admitted he wouldn’t vote for a border deal, no matter what, as long as a Dem is in the White House. Talk about choosing party over country.

I write this letter to warn you against falling for the same old campaign tricks that are coming. Will you fall for it again? Will you let Republican candidates make you believe that the President has 100% control over everything? OR, will you think critically and ask what Congress has accomplished in the last two years? Ask how those already elected will manipulate you. 

Let’s go beyond immigration. What has Congressman Gallagher done for YOU? What has Assemblyman Mursau accomplished? What has Senator Felzkowski accomplished? Have they fixed inflation? Gas prices? PFAS in our water? Anything? If you can’t answer, I encourage you to think about voting for new representation.
