Art in the Garden celebrates another year in Goodman

Posted

GOODMAN – A cherished summer tradition returns to Goodman on Saturday, Aug. 15, as Art in the Garden welcomes visitors from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the home of Lynn and James Stankevich, located at 105 Main St.

Since its beginning in 2011, the event has become a favorite destination for those who enjoy local art, handcrafted treasures, beautiful gardens and small-town hospitality.

Guests can wander through the picturesque gardens while browsing more than 30 vendor booths featuring an impressive selection of handcrafted items. Shoppers will find unique jewelry, quilts, paintings, pottery, metalwork, textiles, greeting cards, garden decor and many other one-of-a-kind creations displayed throughout the yard and the sunken gazebo area.

The day also offers plenty of opportunities to relax and enjoy the surroundings. Live music by Mullins 3 Gen will fill the gardens from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., creating the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of shopping and visiting with friends. Seating is available throughout the property, inviting guests to slow down and take in the peaceful setting.

Food and refreshments will be available throughout the event, including hot dogs, hamburgers, bratwurst and beverages prepared by family and friends. Guests can also enjoy homemade sauerkraut made by Brian Stankevich’s grandmother, sample pure maple syrup produced by his uncle and view artwork created by members of Brian’s family.

In addition to the talented vendors, visitors can participate in a variety of bucket raffles featuring unique prizes donated by local businesses and artisans.

Art in the Garden is more than a community gathering — it also supports local students. Proceeds from the event benefit scholarships and student programs, with the Stankevich family’s share dedicated to a scholarship established in memory of their son, Brian, who courageously battled cancer at a young age.

Whether searching for handmade gifts, enjoying live music or simply spending a relaxing day in a beautiful garden, Art in the Garden offers something for everyone. In the event of rain, the festivities will move indoors to the Goodman Fire and Rescue Hall.
