Arms & Archery celebrates one year in Oconto

Posted

OCONTO – Developed from a “spur of the moment decision,” Tim Lindgren opened the Arms & Archery Sporting Goods store in 2022. Initially inspired by his enthusiasm for hunting and desire to become an entrepreneur, Arms & Archery has now officially made a home in Oconto for the past year.

Before coming to own his own business, Lindgren worked various jobs across IT departments. However, after being let go by companies that he felt thought “protecting their bottom line was more important than protecting their employees,” Lindgren decided “I needed to be in control of my own destiny.”

Lindgren originally opened Arms & Archery in the summer of 2022. However, he quickly realized that the location was not ideal. He said that “people could see [the business] from the highway, but it was difficult to access.” After a discussion with a customer, Lindgren received a recommendation to check out a storefront in Oconto.

After visiting the space on the main street in Oconto, Lindgren decided to make the move.

Arms & Archery Sporting Goods offers a wide range of products to different interests and availability levels. Those interested in archery can find a variety of bows, crossbows and accessories for all needs. Firearm options range from pistols to hunting rifles and even historical pieces pop up at times.

Lindgren shared that if the store doesn’t have the specific piece a customer is looking for, the sporting goods shop offers Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) transfers. This allows for Arms & Archery to act as a “transfer agent” and receive ordered guns. The customer can then come to Lindgren, complete a background check and take their firearm home with them.

Reflecting on his time and experience as a hunter, gun owner and now a business owner, Lindgren shared some advice for those looking to make their first purchase. He encourages everyone to consider taking a firearms safety course to learn important tips and tricks. At the store, Lindgren said that he tells people “to make sure [the firearm] feels good when you use it.”

In marking one successful year of Arms & Archery in Oconto, Tim Lindgren invited everyone in to “get ready for the upcoming deer hunting season or find that firearm that will do the best to protect [you].”

Arms & Archery Sporting Goods is located at 1020 Main St., Oconto, and can be reached at (920) 399-8199 for more information.
